A year of innovation in the ED- the final workstream!

Over the last few blogs we have been looking at the work of the ‘Kaizen chiefs’ in improving processes within the ED. We have discussed the work around both the patient journey and around the measurement and presentation of performance data. The final workstream looked at Communication and Recognition both within the ED team and from a patient perspective. This is a tough area to try and improve; there are no good, objective measures and no single solution fits every personality.

Lights, Cameras, Action

A busy Monday afternoon saw our medical illustration team arrive in the ED with lights, cameras and microphones. A crew of doctors and nurses stood hastily learning their lines. This was not 24hrs in A&E....it was the filming of our new triage system, the One Patient Pathway.

A year of innovation in the ED. Part 3.

For part 3 of this series of blogs we are going to look at the second work stream identified by the Kaizen Chiefs - measurement and presentation of performance data. A dry and slightly dull topic at best, a stick used to beat us at worst. How do we prove our new processes are working? More importantly, how do we get people to care about the numbers?
